Acoustic barriers for schools and childcare
New schools and childcare centres are increasingly located in or next to residential zones. Daytime playground noise leads to recurring complaints from neighbours and can complicate the environmental permit. Noise Solutions installs plantable acoustic barriers that significantly lower sound pressure in surrounding gardens.
Why playground noise is a challenge
On a schoolyard of 200 children, peaks up to 90 dB are common. These peaks fall outside classic industrial norms but weigh heavily in environmental permits, especially at new schools in mixed residential-school zones.
Our approach
We install Kokowall or Noise-Reducer barriers along the property line facing the nearest homes. The barriers become overgrown with ivy or wisteria within a few years, visually fitting a school setting. Ceiling absorbers are also available for covered playgrounds.
Legal framework in Belgium
Schools are not directly bound by VLAREM limits on users, but emission to neighbouring plots is often tested by the municipality. We work with certified acoustic consultants to substantiate the environmental permit dossier.
Result
Noticeably quieter neighbouring gardens, fewer complaints and a permit file locked down acoustically. Suitable for public schools, municipal schools, private childcare and school groups.
