Noise wall for industrial estate, Mechelen
Construction of an 80-metre noise wall between an industrial estate and an adjacent residential area in Mechelen. A collaboration with the city and the business association.
The challenge
The industrial estate had grown in recent years, while new homes were also being built on the other side. The combination of lorry traffic, loading and unloading activities, and machinery led to structural noise complaints.
Our solution
In consultation with the city of Mechelen and the industrial park, we installed an 80-metre-long and 5-metre-high noise wall. The wall combines wooden cladding on the residential side with steel absorption panels on the industrial side.
Steel with wooden cladding and rock wool absorption
The result
The average noise reduction was 28 dB(A). The city of Mechelen used this project as an example for future industrial zone buffering.
